Why
The COPC will be the largest series of events in Canadian Poker history!
Main Event #4
The feature event is the $5000 Head Up Championship which has drawn the attention of the worlds best poker players. Gavin Smith, Antonio Esfandiari, Huck Seed, Greg Mueller and Brad Booth repeatedly make this event a must attend each year. The likes of Joe Hachem and Phil Hellmuth have praised the 2 out of 3 format with lots of play as one of the best in the world. There is a very long list of players, professionals, hopefuls and amateurs who have gone head to head to prove they are the best. This year can be your shot to play the best in the world and win.

Events #1, #2 & #10
The 2010 C.O.P.C. provides a unique opportunity for poker players to have a great return with a smaller buy-in, while still having tons of play over the two day events. Events 1, 2 & 10 are each spread out over the three participating casinos to allow for a larger field of players and more substantial prize pools. A $550 or $1100 buy-in could quickly turn into $10,000 to $150,000 for a final table finish or possible tourney victory.

Championship Events
A $550 Ladies Championship will kick off the championship events on Sunday August 22nd. Followed by the start of the $5000 Heads Up Main Event on the Monday. The $1100 Pot Limit Omaha event will take place on Wednesday August 25th and crown a PLO champion. Event #9 a $2200 No Limit Hold'em Championship will be a three day event spread over three casinos for the first day allowing for a potential $1,000,000 prize pool. Final table takes place on the final day of the C.O.P.C. and could have a first place prize close to $300,000.

One Day Tournaments
Each Sunday offer $1100 one day tournaments (Events #3 and #11) with up to 200 players each and a potential $50,000 first prize. Monday August 23rd for $220 and Tuesday August 24th for $330 give entry level players the opportunity to join in on the action of the COPC.

Smaller Buy-in Satellites
Just so every poker player has a chance at crowning glory, a number of smaller buy-in tourneys round out the schedule. Thursday August 19th and Thursday August 26th are satellite days at the three casinos in which two weekend buy-ins are awarded for every ten players. On August 19th a $180 satellite will produce one - Event #2 $1100 buy-in and one - Event #1 $550 buy-in for every ten players. On August 26th a $300 satellite will produce one - Event #9 $2200 buy-in and one - Event #10 $550 buy-in for every ten players. A great opportunity to parlay a small investment into a big win.

Cash Games
On a daily basis players can easily find numerous No Limit, Pot Limit and Limit games with varying stakes. The 1 -2 No Limit Hold'em games are the most popular choice of Calgarians, but 2-5 or 5-5 and 5-10 No Limit can often be found. The reputation that Calgary host some of the largest Pot Limit Omaha games in North America is not an exaggeration. PLO limits start at 1-2 and 5-5 but often range from 5-10, 10-25 to 50-100. The city also boasts regular 15-30 and 30-60 Limit Hold'em games to go along with numerous 4-8 tables. During major tournaments the limits are always pushed higher and game selection and available seats make it easy to find the right game.

Ultimate Players Party and Players Lounge
It is tradition that during the C.O.P.C. players are given the opportunity to blow off a little steam Canadian style and partake in a grand evening of drinking and entertainment at he Ultimate Players Party. This party at The Rusty Cage is on Sunday August 22nd and will feature headline entertainment, food and beverages as well as unveil the match ups for the $5000 main event bracket drawing at 8pm. Throughout the 11 days of tournaments the nightly players lounge at The Rusty Cage, will provide players a place to relax and enjoy after a tough day at the poker tables.

How do I deal with bringing money across the Canadian / American or International borders?
It is always safer to check with Federal border authorities on the legalities on the carrying or transferring of poker money across international borders.
